back pain

I was told by a Chyropractor some time ago when I went to him for back pain that after looking at my ex-rays that it appears that I have a fussion beteween my back bone and tailbone, there was nothing he could do for me in this respect. Does this mean that I have to have back surgery? Any information you may provide will be greatly appreciated. Thanking you in advance, Richard Kent
