Rib pain

I am 57. I was doing situps on a slanted board on 12/31 or so. I was on my back. My hands were grabbed onto a bar and I pulled my legs and torso up to my head. At the time I felt a sharp pain in my left rib cage. It has subsided pretty much, but still bothers me at night. Is there anything I should do? Should I just avoid doing that type of situp?
