patella tendonitis

I have had patella tendonitis in my left knew for about 10 months. I firsrt flared up when I ran a 10 km race 15 mths earier(I was not in proper shape). It got worse after I was rehabbing my right knee (i had a slight tear in my miniscus). I was working on a stair climber and it got worse. I went to my doctor and he suggested a strap that goes under the knee and holds the patella iin place. It got a little better. it was suggested to me that I work out on a bike to strengthen my quads. I have been doing this since last October Roughly 3 times a week for a 1/2 hour. My right knee has is probably at 90%, but lately my left knee is getting tender. I ski on weekends and my quads are in great shape. I want to get back to running. Do you have any suggestions?

Anatomically knitted knee support incorporating contoured silicone insert surrounding the patella: The kinetically integrated guide counteracts lateralization of the pattella. During activity the insert not only counteracts patellar malalignment but provides intermittent compression for the reduction of swelling and edema.
