Re: torn plantar fascia?

About four months ago I tore my plantar fascia. a couple of weeks ago I finally went to see my orthopedic sergeon and he told me that a torn plantar fascia can take up to a year to fully heal and the best thing to do for it is to swim or ride a bike, but nothing that is high impact like running or playing tennis. he also said that shoes with a medium arch support will help because they let the plantar fascia relax. The plantar facsia is a ligament in you foot that holds the front and back of your foot together so when your foot is arched it feels more comfortable because it is relaxed. I've also found that because my plantar fascia is torn other parts of my foot have started to hurt and a heat pack helps with the pain. just remember that it wont heal real so and give you fot some TLC.

Plantar Fasciitis starts as a dull, intermittent pain in heel or arch, progressing to a sharp, persistent pain. A sharp, piercing pain and/or inflammation through heel and foot that usually occurs in the morning or after resting and gradually disappears with walking.
