Re: Freibergs Disease |
|
I have been reading a few of these posts. I am 44 years old now, but when I was 12 years old I was diagnosed with Freiberg's infractions disease. I was running one day on the beach and just stopped real quick and it kind of "stowed" up BOTH of my feet. I did not feel like I had really done a real injury, but I must have without realizing it. Right away both of my feet starting hurting me really, really bad. I could not even stand to have a sheet across my feet. Trying to put on a pair of pants was excrutiating if I even barely touched the sides of the material. This has been a long time ago of course, but for some reason I decided to look it up on the net today to see if there was any info on it. Because I have so many joint problems that no doctor can understand or really diagnose. Some say I just have fibromyalgia. After being diagnosed yesterday with yet another problem...I remembered the Freiberg's from when I was young. Was there a relation to this? My mother took me to many doctors that could not find out what was wrong with my feet. I had one doctor wrap them in tape, whhich hurt worse! another doctor put needles in my feet, another wanted to take out the bones and sew my toe to the other, which would make me look like a duck or something. Finally somehow I ended up at no other than Dr. Freiberg! I live in Ohio, so I guess I was fortunate enough to finally get to the right doc! He told me I had the disease and explained it to me. It is the flattening of the joints in the metatarsel joints in the feet. There was NO surgery ever done to my feet. He told my Mother to have every one of my shoes fitted with a metatarsel bar across the bottom. In time he said it would go away, but when I was in my 30's it would probably be a real problem again. I had to quit all sports and any running or jumping. But the pain did finally go away, but I religously wore my shoes with the bars. None of my shoes were without them. I also PRAYED every night for God to heal my feet! So you decide for yourself what helped! Anyways....I am not gpoing to tell you my feet are perfect, but I was a meter reader for the past 14 years which was walking all day everyday. My feet could not take hard jumping because I remember jumping off a tall wall one time while reading meteres and it really did hurt my feet. SO I would not advise jumping from high buildings! Ha ha!! If you have not had any luck with the bars across the shoes....then pray! But like I said....I wore those bars across my shoes anytime I walked. I know it was awhile before the pain stopped, but it did!
