Re: broken BOTH heel bones recovery

After a bad fall I have just left hospital after having surgery on both shattered heels and am strictly non-weightbearing for the next 4 weeks. All i can do is lay on the settee with my feet higher than my heart.8 pins and a plate in my right foot (the worst damaged) and 7 pins and a plate in my left foot. My left foot, apart from the healing pain, feels pretty much back to normal however, my right foot has been completely numb (pins and needles) ever since the accident 3 weeks ago. Has anyone else had this complaint and if so, has the feeling in your foot returned or is this something i will have to live with? How will that affect driving a car or walking on a day to day basis? I have my stitches out this wednesday, a further 4 weeks non weightbearing and then i can start to put a little weight on my heels (which i'm not looking forward to as the pain is horrendous if i accidentally touch the floor with my foot at the moment). I realise the recovery process will be at least 6 months (luckily work have been fantastic about it) but if anyone else has suffered the same injury, I'd be interested to hear from you.
