Big Toe Pain

I have pain on the bottom of my left big toe since last week (10 days). It is not constant but if I apply pressure -ie. walking - on the big toe, it feels as if there is a splinter under the skin. The sensation is like a pin prick and then achy. It feels the best after I have slept - maybe because my feet are elevated when I am sleeping? I have gone to two doctors and they cannot find any foreign objects in my toe. Can you give me a diagnosis? Should I be getting it xrayed? It is not swollen or red. Many thanks,

Helps lift shoe pressure off toe joints, corns and calluses. Helps provide palliative relief of hammer toe irritation and friction.
