Corn Removal

Hi I went to a podiatrist about 5 years ago and he told me I had hammertoes which were the cause of my corns. He fixed my hammertoes to get rid of the corns but the corns are still there. Is it possible for corns to stay on your feet permanently or should I just have the corns removed altogether?
