inflamation of the large toe joint

I am a 59 year old women in great health. I walk regularly and I'm always very active. No weight problems, no health problems. I had severe pain in the joint of the large toe area, so I went to the Dr. thinking it was gout. After blood test and x-ray he told me there was no gout, only inflamation of the joint. I am taking indocin for swelling and pain and it does not seem to be getting any better. I have been in great pain for 3 days now and the swelling, heat and hard area does not seem to be any better. I am leaving for a great vacation in 5 weeks and I do not want to be unable to walk and enjoy my vacation. Can you give me any insite into what is going on with my foot. He tells me it is inflamation of the joint and will take time to correct itself. I really need some quick fix....
Thank you,
Susan

The HealWell Night splint is designed to comfortably position the foot in a controlled amount of dorsiflexion to provide a gentle stretch to the plantar fascia and Achilles Tendon. This gentle stretch helps reduce the muscle contracture, inflammation and associated pain. It has also been clinically proven to reduce symptoms of plantar fasciitis.
