Re: dislocated finger

my boyfriend has dislocated his right hand ring finger, he had gotten into a little dispute and punched something which he doesn't recall and I am not sure myself but his knuckle is no longer there but his hand is severely swollen, the knuckle has moved over to the last finger. He can still make fist but his hand will not close all the way. what can we do? he doesn't have insurance to get x-rays or the medical treatment he needs. What more can I do when I told what he needed to do. We have put ice on it and i have told him to put an ace bandage to reduce the swelling and to take an anti-imflammatory but i think he doesn't think i know what i am talking about, please help.
